The lootbox system is not in any way mathematically random and is in fact rigged to give you content for the least used heroes in your game time roster meanwhile, they want you to grind even harder at a snails pace to unlock skins for heroes that you play with the most with your hard earned money. I noticed this suspicious pattern when I unlocked two Mercy skins for two of my accounts within the same 2 minutes of each other on two different computers at the same time. This is too much of a coincidence as this had happened on multiple occasions where I would unlock skins from lootboxes for similar heroes that I would rarely ever use. What is even more suspicious is the fact is that I would purchase the exact same skin only to unlock a duplicate of that exact same skin that I had purchased several minutes ago. Here is living proof that this is 100% real.

The current system is intentionally engineered to (statistically) give you as much of what you don’t want as possible before you get what you do want.
Let’s say I want a skin. I open a lootbox. Maybe the skin is in there! But also, it could be sprays, or voice lines, or a different skin. And they’re most likely for characters you don’t play or care about.
But hey, you can buy things with credits, right? But how do you get credits? By opening loot boxes! But wait, you can’t actually get credits directly from a loot box; they aren’t in the drop table. To get credits, you have to get the exact same item you didn’t want again, and then that duplicate item is turned into a few credits.
When you start the game, you won’t be earning many credits. You have to open a bunch of loot boxes and accumulate an army of garbage you don’t want or care about before you’ll start reliably getting duplicates of said garbage that can be turned into credits, which you can then use to get what you actually want.
It’s a two-tiered system of obfuscated bullshit, created by game designers who understand these bullshit systems well enough to know it’s all complete bullshit.
There are several streams where players would receive the exact same skin that they had just recently unlocked seconds earlier. This is by design to raise and manipulate young people and convert them into a generation of online gamblers.
If this isn’t 100% proof that these lootboxes are completely rigged against you, then you are clearly stupid or delusional. I cannot wait for the next upcoming game crash that would force game companies to restructure their entire economy to end their scummy methods in trying to manipulate their customers for an easy buck. I am not claiming that businesses themselves are inherently evil but a company that does not serve your interest and is not transparent about it has no right to be surprised when laws catch up to their malicious business practices to exploit or extort their customers.
If you think that this is just another gamer’s opinion you then are objectively wrong. I have a similar article exposing Activision-Blizzard’s malicious practices and how they exploit you for profit.

This is all that I have been able to unlock within the last 2+ years with 1,000+ hours of game time, weekly arcades, events as well as the purchase of an additional 40+ lootboxes (which I sadly regret doing) and even then if you add up all of the hero content I would not even be able to break past 65% of the content currently already available. This means that it would take me an additional 1,000 hours to hopefully ever unlock another pile of useless sprays, voice lines and emotes just to reach 100% which there is probably some rich millennial who would have no problem emptying their bank account just for the the right to shamefully brag about it.

Let’s Do The Math

A user on Reddit had already taken the liberty of doing most of the hard mathematical work to explain how ridiculous the lootbox rates truly are. This is from well over a year ago during the Uprising update therefore it does not include any of the more additional content that has been piled on top of what currently exists.
